How to do EPFO UAN – Universal Account Number registration

UAN – Universal Account Number

  • 12 digit number introduced by EPFO India
  • Intention is to link multiple PF accounts of an employee (from different organizations worked) to single account
  • Employee will get the UAN from the employer (organization / company)

After getting UAN from employer, you need to activate it

Activate UAN

Navigate to https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

and click on link “Activate UAN” to activate

and check the status by clicking on link “Know your UAN status”

Once your UAN is activated, log in to the https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

With UAN you can perform following options

  • Download UAN card
  • Download PASSBOOK to see your PF deposit history
  • Add KYC by attaching required documents [required for online claim requests]
  • Can claim online, transfer requests.

NOTE: Seeded Aadhaar against activated UAN is mandatory for online claim submission.

Reliable ways to check your PF balance

In this post we will be discussing difference ways to check PF (Profident fund) balance of an employee.

By giving missed call

Give missed call to 011-22901406
From your UAN registered mobile number, give a missed call to 011-22901406, you will receive a message from PF department with PF balance details.

Note: you will get more information like Aadhaar no., Bank A/C number and PAN if it’s seeded with UAN.

By Sending SMS

EPFOHO UAN to 7738299899
From your UAN registered mobile number, send SMS in this format EPFO UAN to 7738299899

if you want to get message in different language, you can do so by sending SMS

EPFO UAN ENG 7738299899 for english (give 1st 3 characters of preferred language)

Other languages supporting – English, Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannad, Gujrati, Malyalam, Tamil

Download m-epf from google play store, you can activate the services by using your 12-digit UAN number.

By online

By logging into unified portal

Navigate to URL – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and login with your UAN.

Click on View > PASSBOOK

you can now navigate to https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp to get the passbook and can check PF balance details.
